Volunteer Opportunities
Kitchen Volunteer
Overview:
We serve three meals a day to up to 50 guests. We are very fortunate that we have a very giving community. Our kitchen volunteers assist in cooking and serving nutritious meals and snacks for our adult guests.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Cooking well-rounded meals from our pantry
- Bringing in homemade meals and serving to guests
- Working with our kitchen manager to plan meals
Skills/Abilities:
- Baking
- Cooking
- Meal planning
- Meal prep
- Ability to treat guests with dignity and respect
- Ability to understand and maintain boundaries
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Qualifications:
• Imagination
• Positive attitude
• Safe Food Handling experience or willingness to learn
• Ability to work with people from all walks of life
Reports To: staff onsite
Time Commitment: 2-4 hour shifts, frequency is flexible

Housekeeping Volunteer
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Housekeeping (Emptying trash, cleaning and sanitizing, sweeping & mopping)
- Other Duties as needed
Skills/Abilities:

- Ability to understand and maintain boundaries
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to take and follow directions

Reports To: shelter staff
Time Commitment: 2-hour shifts are preferred, but scheduling is flexible

Donation Sorting/Organizing Volunteer
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Sorting through and determining which donations are needed
- Organizing donations
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to take and follow directions
- Enjoyment of organizing
- Utilizes best judgment in determining which donations to reallocate
Qualifications:
- Organizational Skills
- Communication Skills
- Housekeeping Skills
Reports To: Shelter Staff
Time Commitment: 2-hour shifts preferred

Maintenance
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Painting
- Cleaning
- Yardwork (seasonally)
- Special projects
- Minor repairs
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to take and follow directions
Qualifications:
- Comfortable working independently
- Communication Skills
- Familiarity with conducting minor repairs (if applicable)
Reports To: Maintenance Specialist
